In my quest to make hand-cut dovetails, I was made aware it to be a much easier process with the proper marking and setup tools. With this knowledge in my brain, I was on a mission to make a marking knife and marking gauge. In the particular build I tackle the marking knife. Made from redwood burl on a lathe, I think it ended up looking great. I suppose if you are in the mindset of wanting to try making hand cut dovetails for the first time, you could use a utility knife or similar. But I wasn’t about to turn down making a tool out of some beautiful wood. I had wished to get more footage of the actual build but 3 cameras dying simultaneously was not in my predictions. Enjoy!
